My YouTube Journey

It’s August 2020, I’m in lockdown (urgh!), I feel alone and disconnected from the world and to make things worse I’m binging self development YouTube looking for purpose, connection and meaning (is this healthy?)

I’m inspired by creators like Ali Abdaal, Matt D'avella and Nathaniel Drew. They spoke to me, they were authentic, sharing their journeys.

I have a crazy thought.

Why not launch my own YouTube channel?

I wish I could say I got right to work. Instead I spent months battling doubts and insecurities. I'm naturally introverted and private. Why would anyone want to listen to what I have to say?

Determined to get started. I set myself a deadline. My first video would be uploaded to YouTube by the end of February 2021. And so, the journey of learning the ropes began. Editing, lighting, sound.

How does one person do all of this?

On February 25th, after months of struggle my first video was uploaded (hooray, but also omg).

“Transcendental Meditaton explained”

Looking back, my initial 30 videos were terrible, like really terrible.. but I learnt a lot during that period

Our solution

After fumbling around for 10 months, I had 400 subscribers and no focus on the channel. One week a video on meditation the next a book review. I was desperately trying to find my niche, something that excited me and I was good at.

Then I discovered NFTs.

I was all in.

I was sold on a vision of a promising technological future where NFTs would allow for mass digital ownership and identity online. The next 60 videos I created were all in on NFTs. I grew the channel from 400 - 12,000 subscribers. Who knew niching down works? It was working…

Jan 2023. I have a mini crisis mode. Burnt out from scammers, and bad actors in the NFT space I realise I don’t think I want to make NFT content anymore.

With my head down grinding I hadn’t taken time to figure out what really drives me. In my quest for direction, I found a mentor, a business coach who led me to discover my WHY for creating.

Now, almost 3 years and nearly 100 videos later, everything's starting to make sense. You know what hit me?

I'm here to tell stories about creators who've built a great life doing what they love.

I want to show where they started, the hard times they faced, and when everything finally fell into place. It’s kind of meta because at the same time as I’m on that exactly journey, but that’s why it makes sense (at least in my head it does)

Alright, so here's the deal: creating stuff is messy. Even with tons of advice online, it took me years of experimenting to find my direction.

But now, I'm more motivated than ever because for the first time I'm creating from a place of deep purpose. That's why I think it's super important to hit the pause button every now and then. Take a look at where you're heading and ask yourself if it feels right?
